Paul, if that is correct that the Centrelink call centre is to go out to tender it is a disappointing trend.
Centrelink has sensitive personal information on millions of Australians including pensioners.
All that information imo should be under the control of the public sector subject to the regulations
that apply to them in relation to privacy etc. Putting it out to tender may result in less qualified staff on low wages being appointed and thus may result in an inferior service. Profit will be the key motivator for the successful tenderer and service could suffer just on that basis. Some things should not be privatised.
If the govt does this they can get stuffed as far as I am concerned.
