Let me put it this way: the moon - that great big mini-planet in the sky - changes the earth’s gravitational field by about 0.000011% (0.11 parts per million). The sun - that gob-smackingly enormous ball of plasma at the centre of our solar system - changes it by about half that.
You tell me - is there anything we humans can do (short of, say, melting down the Greenland ice cap) that will have more than a sparrow-fart of an effect?
