Iraq Securing its Turkish Borders

    Erdogan's crazy  neo-Ottoman agenda won't get anywhere here.

    The following picture purportedly shows Iraqi troop column moving into Sinjar province and there is word that Turkish troop movements into Iraq have now ceased as a result.

    Supposedly the Yazidi PMU militias are coordinating the withdrawal of the PKK's military wing from the borders but the actual orders would be coming from Tehran via Baghdad IMHO.

    It's not lost on me that Iran was providing materiel support to the YPG in Afrin and has previously supported the PKK.  Iran also has reasonable relations with the Kurdish PUK militia and so the checkers board of Northern Iraq appears to be favouring Iran over Turkey.  All Soleimani need do is maintain a level head with his old friends in the US military (by keeping Khamenei's nutters at bay) and it's check mate for Iran IMHO.  I was not looking for this outcome but it is as it is.
