Fair enough, i tried to work out what it meant but didnt know where to look.

Talking about cables, still wondering about the PNG/Solomon's cable for the government, how it might be of strategic benefit to us.

Its only 5% longer to go to Sydney-Hawaii via Solomon's, less going from Brisbane whose council want an overseas link. Problem is AU-US is already very well serviced.

Its also on the way to Guam (TPG) or Japan (Telstra consortium), both those cables are aging, but its not going to help our customers much or reduce our IRU costs as we can go via Singapore to Asia.

It could be used to connect Sydney-Brisbane-Darwin and to the NWCS, which could then be connected to ASC with support from Oil/Gas companies. Problem is we are already well served by domestic cable, so its not going to get us more business.

And even if we do get a good price for NZ, reduce debt etc, we still should be trying to avoid spending more on PP&E unless we are sure of its solid ROIC.

I think at a minimum there will be a Sydney-Brisbane cable, which should be a cheap addition, and frees our two domestic Sydney-Brisbane routes to be used to aggregate domestic traffic rathen that throughput from Brisbane-Sydney.

Im sure they are trying to get as much strategic value out it as they can, must be difficult though.
