Got a letter from council several months ago telling me I had overpaid rates and did I want a refund of just over $900 or did I want it put to January's bill.
My rates are just under 3 times that amount and the letter said I paid in cash.
Phoned them and told them they had stuffed up because I never pay cash I put everything on visa and pay visa in full each month.
    I don't pay in installments.
Woman was shocked at my honesty but as I pointed out there would be no point because they would sort it out eventually.
Heaven forbid it could have been some pensioner putting cash aside each fortnight who would then get another bill and be charged a late fee if they did not have a receipt.
She told me she didn't know how they'd work it out.
It was an exact amount including cents.
A rates notice no or something must have been entered incorrectly.
She even told me she would not be as honest as I was.
Told her to just sort it out and I haven't heard more but just recently got my normal notice.
