No one cares but we get a public holiday.

The names of the streets in Mile End in Adelaide are named after the early winners of the Adelaide Cup.
Falcon Ave ( I lived there once)...first winner of the cup
Ebor Ave...second winner
Cowra St..won it twice (1866, 1867)
Norma St
Lurline St
There was originally a large parcel of land throughout Mile end and Torrensville which a group of sporting gentleman used for horse race meetings.....the group later formed the South Australian Jockey Club hence the historic links of the area to the modern day Adelaide Cup
