it's silly on both sides the nanny state regulation though is a business condition under law , so the expectation is that the bank can manage within that regulation , just like we shouldn't protect folks from their own poor decisions , we should have expectations that the bankers apply some intelligence to their responsibilities . in a large number of cases we have incompetence from both lender & borrower , that doesn't set things up for shareholder success . because the government underwrites banks in this country there is a valid expectation they will act competently .
