I have held some stock for a long time and I had always believed that trs had much unrealized potential. Nevertheless the last few years have been a disappointment. Sometimes it has been because of factors beyond their control such as the QLD flood and the dumping of stock from a major competitor going bust, which, resulted in low margins for trs competing stores. However what was within their control was a more sensible offering which they did not provide. In recent times I have noticed a continual improvement in the offerings and talking to staff and by personal observation, I have noticed resultant increased foot traffic. I live in a rural area in the Hunter Valley where trs has a presence in most larger towns. The smaller footprint of their stores compared to Big W and KMart means that these bigger competitors are less likely to be around the corner. I would imagine that trs realizes this and has saturated such country locations around the country. I have therefore regained my faith and increased my holdings substantially and feel that if management continues as it has been recently I will have a long term growth adventure.
