I read that our Government is planning to add a $5 surcharge to every parcel coming in from overseas.
That is on top of their proposed GST grab due on July 1st.
These absolute numpties just don't get it. The reason most of us shop overseas is because we cannot buy the flamin' product here...it isn't all about price!
So what will surely happen is these outlets where we can currently source bits and pieces that we cannot buy here, will just refuse to ship to Australia. Some already do.
Personally I buy car parts from the USA which are impossible to buy here, often for less than a hundred bucks an order. But our so smart intelligent morons in Canberra will ensure supply is cut off for this type of stuff from Australian citizens.
As if adding 10% will make a difference to the purchase....very few overseas suppliers are going to collect a miserable few dollars in tax for the Australian Government...I certainly wouldn't if I was a supplier!
