agree Ash. The main opposition to the project is from an anti-mining group who oppose any and all projects in Spain. I'm all for ensuring any mining is done without adverse effect on the environment but these zealots have no commercial approach or common sense in my opinion.
I consider the company has been extremely professional in it's dealings and announcements. The last thing they needed to do was get into a public confrontation with the group even if it meant staying silent at times. The local communities and authorities are very supportive and the company have done all within it's power to move the project forward.
Those that criticize management fail to acknowledge the farce that was the Spanish elections for a few years then the failure to form a majority government as the main reason for the delays. I am frustrated at the time taken to get this far (I've been in since the IPO) but have been involved in enough mining projects to understand that not all goes to plan or timelines.
I guess we will have an outcome in the not to distant future if the Spanish authorities do their job.
