Good point Hoyland and a possible explanation lies with often-stated desire of the company to develop the products as far as possible by themselves to enjoy a larger share of the ownership of the drug. The other companies may have largely sold out at a much earlier phase of development which benefits shareholders in the short term but caps their returns in the longer term. From recent company announcements, management have said that they intend to develop OPMD themselves and I suspect they may wish to do the same for all other programs except cancer and Hep B.
