I'd like to think that we can see things unfold and Dirk be given the time that is needed to address the mismanagement and misinformation of the past. I am in no doubt that the sentiments I expressed about the leadership prior to his move to CEO were on mark and he was left an unholy mess to clean up. That has inevitably resulted in a loss of confidence and the share price retrace.
Let me pose a thought for you all. What if Dirk is forced to take the fall for the share price performance?
It's a challenge for a board to accept they made mistakes that have had such a cascading impact. However I didn't see any preparedness from the Board to take responsibility when I approached some of them late last year. And now nearly five months later things look much more grim than then.
So I wait to see whether Gavin actually follows through on his announcement that he will be going in May or uses this as a reason to stay even if it makes no sense. Until then I remain deeply troubled
