I read this and asked myself, why would they be looking for a LOT of new staff..
Wherever we look these days we manage to find innovative small Australian technology companies doing well in niche markets on the global stage.
One such company is Innovonics, which designs and manufactures closed-circuit TV systems for passenger trains. Innovonics CEO Blair Healy says providing CCTV on moving trains is much more difficult than stationary video systems because of things such as vibration, temperature, dust and electrical interference.
Mr Healy says Innovonics has superior technology to its competitors, which is why its system is the front-runner to be installed on all trains in the London underground network. "We're one of the world leaders in this technology. We did all the Melbourne trains in 2000," he says.
All that success, however, comes with associated problems, one of which, Mr Healy says, is skilled staff.
"We need a lot of new staff with skills in hardware, software and firmware," he says. "The people we're looking for would be involved in electronics design using the MPEG 4 standard. We're one of the few companies in our space that uses MPEG 4, which is ideal for IP streaming and real-time incident management."
