ok - not exactly finders keepers at this point in time.
on sunday as watso was cycling along, watso spotted a dumped "TREK" bike - but watso left it there. the next day the bike was still there - so watso took it to the police station.
watso's gut feeling is that the bike had been nicked and dumped
at the police station, as the paperwork was being done, watso was asked if he wanted the bike, if no one claimed it - what a silly question to ask watso - the answer was YES ... and appropriate box ticked.
judging by the pedal stirrups, the bike would have been vintage, also a bit of rust - and the chain was off.. watso on his own bike, cycled with the other bike to the police station - but the wheels had no buckles - and seemed to roll along nicely.

if watso had found the bike out on kerbside, he would not have been surprised.
anyway, TREK is a name brand bike - and it was not out on the kerb to be scavenged by someone - so it is now at the police station.
in two months time, if no one claims the bike, it belongs to watso
