I hope the HX will still be able to use bricks from other suppliers as well.
The problem I see with trying to brand the construction materials I feel will mean that FBR might be less disruptive. This sort of thing raises the resistance to to the disruption.

In the computer world, many companies tried to buck the TCP/IP ethernet trend back in the 70's and 80's.
All the tech companies at the time had great well thought out technologies, but they all failed and TCP/IP developed at DARPA became the standard.

    The iPhone was disruptive.
But think about if with the iPhone it would only be able to make calls to Apple Cell towers, only send sms using Apple tech, only send email using Apple formatted emails, only take pictures that could be viewed on a Apple device or printed only on Apple paper.
If Apple had tried to do this, iPhone would have been a flop.
It is the similar problem with Hydrogen Cars. Great idea, but we cannot deploy because the gas station doesn't supply hydrogen.
Have a look at printers. They can all use paper made by anyone so long as the paper conforms to a international standard.

Having said all that I do see merit in the first versions of the HX only being able to lay one type of brick.
It would be easier to get the machine finished than trying to support lots of different types.
