The note's a logical non sequitur. Just because lesbians may (substantiation?) have higher rates of domestic violence doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with being lesbian per se. It's a bit like arguing that because males have higher rates of criminality there's something intrinsically wrong with being male. The note in the absence of criminal damage as a one off shouldn't IMO constitute a criminal offence: if they keep targeting people with similar material they're in the realm of harassment. The note accompanying criminal damage is an aggravating feature of the criminal damage and makes it a low level hate crime.
