Is Emotional Intelligence just a great marketing title for people to use?
Is "Emotional Intelligence" just a nice modern name for the ability to influence and manipulate others to achieve self serving goals whilst at all times appearing to act in the others interest?
Is "Emotional Intelligence" a convenient term used by many to provide an unmeasurable big fat tick on their resumes and profiles?????
I've encountered many over the years who proclaim "emotional intelligence" and the bottom line is they were often less than intelligent, narcissistic, manipulative, control freaks who were genuinely afraid of others......particularly those that showed a level of capability. Often what these individuals were actually after ,or really wanted, or recruited was "loyalty" .......not necessarily talent.

Genuine leaders, genuine managers and those that really have a desire to include people on a journey are definitely out there and I have been fortunate to meet many of them over the years. It is those individuals that I have seen add tremendous value to organisations and peoples lives.
But I don't reckon any of the "genuine" ones ever spruiked themselves as having outstanding "Emotional Intelligence"......
