The LAMP produces three separate residuals, aka waste products. Two of them are non-radioactive by any definition. They contain mostly calcium and magnesium compounds.
Ca and Mg are secondary plant macronutrients and legitimate components of fertilizers or soil conditioners, though the Ca:Mg ratio needs to be controlled.
The third waste stream is the "radioactive" one by Malaysian standards. However, it also contains a lot of iron, which is a legitimate plant micronutrient.
Lynas wants to blend the three in suitable proportion to produce a legitimate fertilizer, aka Condisoil. This blending also serves to dilute the radioactivity of the third waste product to a level which is below Malaysian standard. A twist on the old adage: The solution to pollution is dilution.
This is what SMSL calls "making radioactivity disappear" in an attempt to cast aspersion.
According to testing, Condisoil does help improve plant growth suggesting Malaysian farmers might want it. Might not want to reapply every year, though. It looks like a win for all parties.
Can't put it all on a ship for reasons CJ alluded to.
Can't continue onsite storage indefinitely - they will run out of space long before LOM. Quite possibly in the next couple years, esp. as they are constantly increasing the amount they generate.
So they either will pay for some potentially very expensive off-site storage plan or they find someone who wants it at any price. The difference is material to their bottom line. That's why I said it's worth more than the simple accounting CJ was trying to do.
I'm not sure who Nick thinks "touted" Condisoil as a "significant" revenue source. Or why he seems intent on stirring up extracurricular commentary on it, when he knows Lynas has remained silent. One might suspect foul play.
Since Fuziah's slanderous drama last summer on the subject (which resulted in her apologizing to Lynas again, IIRC), it seems like theres been a gag order put on the subject.
It's a waiting game and wrapped in politics, most unfortunately, because there's NO SCIENTIFIC REASON why Condisoil should not be approved. *ing politicians, I hate 'em.
