Cobalt just hit US$90,000/t.
Electric vehicle manufacturers largely haven’t worked out the serious supply issue just yet. We’re only at the start of this EV disruptive tech boom, and cobalt is in short supply!
Ramping up production can come from The DRC, however, that won’t be enough in isolation. As such, players such as PIO will have a decent window of opportunity to feed the cobalt boom through the 2020’s. Picture half a dozen, shallow open pits stretching 600-1500m each, as per recent GR announcement (strike length numbers).
I just hope we have a management team capable of bringing this close to surface cobalt/nickel to the light of day! Poking a few holes a year won’t get SH value, dropping a few million would!
