It states that most Cobalt is produced as a by product of Nickel and that many of the cobalt projects outside of the DRC are high grade sulphides, or more specifically cobalt arsenic sulphides. In first world countries like Australia this will lead to ISSUES around attaining permits to mine these ore bodies responsibly given the need to handle arsenic. There production forecasts will also be small as most of these resource types are situated underground.

The DRC it said does not have top contend with these challenges.

The same article suggests that cobalt demand will treble in the next 10 years from the current 110000 tpa demand and supply presently to over 300000 tpa by 2027 this effectively equates to a growth rate of 11% in demand every year for 10 years so that is good news.

Does our Cobalt Resource fall into the category that is suggested above and if it does do you see it being
a potential problem as suggested in this article to mine using arsenic as it is greatly out of favour throughout the world.

I ask because I have a slim knowledge of how the process to obtain the Cobalt occurs.

I can understand why some of the Cobalt sulphides deposits may have a problem but cant see any Arsenic contamination in Owendale or Sunrise laterites. Nevertheless its a matter of price isnt it and I see some forecasts for Cobalt at 150,000 bucks a tonne. Though still nowhere near the Scandium project price 1. 5 million bucks a tonne hey ?
