Thanks for alerting me to it... the COB SP rise recently is quite justified it seems.

Steep learning curve for me, but I am enjoying it..

COB:

I think they were aiming to get 90% recovery... but did better than that it seems ...

"recovery of 92% of the cobalt to concentrate."
and
"Results indicated that varying the particle size down to 425um permitted 94% recovery of cobalt to concentrate" -

So a bit of upside there possibly as they also have ongoing optimisation.

The 0.52% Co feed grade resulted in "repeatable cobalt extractions of 95-98% with the average being 96%"...



But then..
"Cobalt Blue’s PFS Manager, Dr Andrew Tong said:
“ The PFS testwork has successfully achieved high recoveries of cobalt from ore to leach solution (total recovery of 88% cobalt from ore to leach solution). The key process steps have been validated: concentration, calcining, and leaching. The remaining focus of testwork is to produce high purity cobalt sulphate from the leach liquor. The high recoveries augur well for the economic evaluation of the project, which will be completed in the PFS.”


CLA:

"Closed circuit floatation recoveries of 80% at a concentrate grade of up to 1.5% Cobalt.
• Leach extractions of over 95% Cobalt and 94% Copper."

Fantastic, as you say...


So what am missing is the total recovery cobalt from ore to leach solution is for CLA to compare it to Andrew Tong's quote... Are we able to get 88% cobalt recover from ore to leach solution ? (I suspect that is a big yes). Not come across it in my rushed reading as yet.

BB has already let a poster here know that sulphuric acid will not be a major issue for costs, so that is very good news.

Does anyone else know the recovery rates from ore to leach ?

If yes, then we certainly should shine when benchmarked against COB.


You are quite correct, from what I have read, once the stuff is out of the ground, we should be able to process it and ship it quite cheaply... it will be the cost of extraction that dictates the profit in this mine.
