On the 14/10/2009, CCQ(which is now known as CCQDA) announced a capital retutn of $0.30 per share. The record date for the capital return was the 21st of October.
On the 15/10/2009 I purchased shares in CCQ via Westpac Trading. Settlement was on the 20/10/2009.
I have since been advised by Westpac and 'computershare'(the guys that look after CCQ's stock) that I am not entitled to the $0.30 capital return as I had not purchased the shares prior to the 14th.
I was under the impression that because record date(settlement) was the 20th, that I would be entitled to the capital return.
How does this sit with the more experienced traders? I'm confused.
