Sooooo I just spent 5 hours in an ED tonight.... Was having irregular heart beats almost hourly for over 24 hours and decided I would go get it checked out. Literally on the way to the hospital everything fixed itself up and started ticking as it should. I sat on a bed for 5 hours waiting for the irregularity to reoccur so it could be observed by the doctor. In the end the doctor observed a minor 'ventricular ectopic beat' and said it was nothing to worry about but a Holter Monitor would be needed to get a better picture of whats going on. The Holter monitor will be strapped to my arm for 24 hours, collecting data and saving to some sort of usb and then sent off to analysed. My thoughts... If I had a Prizma (and I will soon hopefully) - I could have taken my own ECG prior to going in and saved us all 5 hours and the health system a bunch of money by showing it to the doctor (or online monitoring crew). If the doctor wasn't happy with my readings, he could have used a patch and monitored me remotely and had results by the time I returned the patch to the hospital. Tiny cost to the patient, tiny cost to the hospital - and massive savings all round. So freeking simple - its easy to see how these products will dominate in the US!
