I think the changes that the Titans coach made this week, is the main reason for the Titans form reversal.
Back in the side was Will Matthews, Latu was dropped and Cartwright only played two and a half minutes.
It is not that I don't think Cartwright and Latu won't turn out to be very good players for the Titans, it is just that I don't think their style of play has suited the style of play that wins games for the Titans at this stage of the competition.
I expect as they work their way into the team, they will both offer some subtle differences that will make the Titans a better team.
At the moment, the hard running and stinging defence of King, Boyle and Matthews puts them in front of Cartwright and Latu. Ryan James and Proctor play it a little differently than the other three, which gives the pack some variety. What about James putting a little grubber through to set up a try for Sami?
If Cartwright and Latu force their way back in, it will be on the back of some very hard work and some minor adjustments to their game.
As an outsider watching what is happening at the Broncos, I can see some troublesome signs emerging. In recent weeks I have seen interviews with Thaiday and Oates that gave the impression that they both have issues with coach Bennett.
In the interview after the game, Bennett, named the players and the mistakes they made. To me that is unnecessary as we all saw what happened, without the need for them to be embarrassed. When a team loses like that the whole team (including the coach) has to share the blame.
Their inability to retain some of there established and emerging stars seems to be increasing. The loss of Hunt, would be the biggest one but there are others. In recent times they have lost Ashley Taylor, Jarryd Wallace and Jai Arrow. One has already been picked for State of Origin and the other two likely, if not this year then next.
There was a time when the Broncos only ever lost players they no longer wanted.
