Too true , luckily I learnt about brokers on my very first share purchase at the age of 19 ,( 1979) it was a platinum mine that was on strike . I phoned my brothers broker and told him to buy some shares for me , and was told he didn't recommend them as they were on strike . I told him `` yes that's why I was buying them ,they had dropped 25% and they always go back to work don`t they ? ``.
I made 25 % profit in 4 weeks ! lesson learnt I remember thinking at the time .
