The 'sticky tape' thing was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Not once was Bancroft filmed going anywhere near the pitch to rub 'granules' on sticky tape. Anyone who has ever worked with sticky tape knows how it folds back on itself...if you tried to rub it on the ball it would either stick to it, or fold over on itself. Zero chance of combining 'sticky tape' with 'granules of dirt' to create make-sheet sandpaper.
So why did the media keep reporting it as 'sticky tape', even though that detail was coming from self-confessed cheats who had already lied to the on-field umpires?
What an elaborate liar Bancroft is.....'granules' of dirt, the tape was apparently stuck to some padding...great extra detail embroidered to the lie.
