    If Amazon are trying to do away with middle men - that means they need to do the work themselves. Amazon are the kings of doing things efficiently, which in this case means software and automation for things like customs. They could buy software from someone (cough WTC cough), build their own software (something they are good at!) - or they could buy a company which already knows how to do this...
