Yeah, I agree with some of the above but still have a few over-arching concerns. CAT certainly still have much greater market share, but it is the quality of Statsports clients that stood out to me. I fear it will give them good leverage especially on the back of deals like US Soccer.
To the last point - This is what has concerned me more than anything lately. CAT offering clubs a solution with everything they need. If Statsports have already outdone them on the wearable front which is CAT's core business, how can we expect CAT to out-do companies in the other industries they have entered.
I was hugely alarmed to read the comments from US Soccer below.
“It’s a partner that is huge in world sport. They have a lot of the share of the market throughout sport both in the US and in Europe. We felt they offered the best unit and reliability and accuracy,” says Bunce.
If CAT can spend $70m on product development and can't produce a device that is as reliable or accurate than competitors, I am not sure how long elite clients will put up with that? It's still a wait & see for me...just!
