The primary reason for a company to list on a stock exchange is to facilitate access to equity capital. The more relaxing alternative would be to remain private. For small companies yet to become profitable in particular, share issuance is the only means available to obtain capital to fund future growth in both fundamental and share value. Anyone uncomfortable with this process should not be a shareholder in an early-stage listed technology company, otherwise they will be continually tormented, as many appear to be.
