I don't consider any REE resource development anywhere as anything but a positive for Lynas.
With all due respect, I was saying it long before Amanda did. In fact, I've been "pointing it out" since I began posting: Corporate planners and product designers need long-term supply security before they will commit to a technology.
REE elimination (dumb/bad for REE industry) and reduction (smart/good) research is continuing. The more secure the supply, the less elimination research will be conducted.
Whereas more effective magnet metals (La,Ce,Nd,Pr,Sm,etc) use means less is used per unit but it is increasingly irreplaceable; that drives magnet metals $/kg without creating a crisis that degrades demand, stunts the new technology/application or presents a huge profit potential that promotes more elimination research.
The resource is not on the moon; it's just barely out of reach at this time. This discovery is excellent news for Lynas, imho.
