Thanks for this clarifying post.
I paint the picture to illustrate the sort of tactics that incumbents will throw at our customers to prevent their space being filled with new competitors out to nick their lunch..
How do I know this?
Because I have worked on both sides of this fence. And because I have personally had a customer who was also a former colleague give me a run down on what a competitor said about our business in an attempt to gain traction with that person - so I know first hand what goes on
Now this situation was in IT not in gas but I believe ruthlessness only goes up when the dollars involved are higher.
Of course the customers are not stupid and can often interpret their way past the situation - but some just get scared and sign with a big company in order to feel secure.
In some organisations if you sign with a big company and the deal goes south then that is the fault of the company you signed with. If you sign with startup then you get the blame if it goes south - bad judgement on your part not to have chosen a safer option.
Now I know that makes little sense as big companies and small all have deals which go south. But I have seen this thinking quite a bit.
So what is my point. A BTA is really hard to achieve at the moment as gas is not in short supply. For LNGL even harder because of no working plant and no references from former customers
While we have a lead we have a chance but once others have caught up it will be harder
All in all i think the situation is the most relevant factor given GV is solid and trustworthy. Maybe a new person might be better and maybe not
If the situation does not allow a sale then nobody can sell. If things turn favourable then GV will be good enough.
I am not throwing in the towel yet - but as you have sensed I am not that far away. I only mentioning some of the formidable obstacles that I see.
I do not back way from my negativity though. I think we have a window of 6 to 9 months to sign our first deal. If by then we are just one of a bunch of competitors all permitted and ready to proceed but with no deal signed then I think we are screwed
Always happy for you and anybody else not to agree. I am glad you are still optimistic maybe I am letting the negatives get too large in my mind
But that’s what I think until new information comes along to make me change my mind.
Thanks for this clarifying post. I paint the picture to...
