I feel it is unlikely that IBG can raise debt that exceeds their market valuation by 100's of percentage points.
They need cornerstone investors - like Glencore and Nyrstar were supposed to be.
Someone like MMG would be a good candidate in my view - they like Zinc, and have shown a willingness to take on large projects in difficult environments - the Las Bambas zinc mine is 4000 metres above sea level, many people to suffer from altitude sickness at this height, and vehicles must be specially tuned to allow operations in rare atmospheres.
I wonder if all other options fail, could they still take up the Glencore $50m finance option - and hand effective control over to Glencore as the cost of getting the mine started?
