Jim I disagree. A professional day trader needs an excellent fundamental knowledge of the economy, global affairs and what drives markets. That knowledge then reinforces their opinion on why a SP is behaving as exhibited through the charts.
I'm here because I have an interest in Slater & Gordon not SGH. I have no interest in trading the stock 'today'.
A good day trader is a very skilled operator not dissimilar to a long-term investor. Yes, I would agree traits are somewhat different but the level of skill required is on par.
Then again your description "ramp this dog crap stock hunched over your computer clicking the buy and sell buttons"suggests your definition is more aligned to dog track gambler. My interpretation of what a day trader is may well differ to yours.
