I disagree Jim. Other factors can drive a SP other than prima facie financial performance. A loss making company could be bought (has) by a competitor to quickly take a slice of the market or acquire strategic assets (or brains!).
One thing you can bet on is the market gets to know about matters before the ink is dry, there is reason for every move and the majority will not know until is public knowledge, by then the best gains are gone.
The other day there was talk of insider trading being illegal. Of course it is but one would be naïve to believe that not a whisper leaves the corridors of power. Of course it does.
