    I'm fairly sure the Waste Management part of the last announcement was to do with the brick waste from the Hadrian X.

    But for a moment, lets imagine there is a enormous pile of rubbish that needs sorting and no humans want to get there hands dirty to do the work.
    (no it isn't the Banks or the NBN).

    You have a couple of 30 meter booms with grabbers on the end.
    You have cameras placed around the pile that double as laser targets for the end of the boom.
    You have a AI computer that can take in the data feeds from the cameras and perform image recognition of visible objects.
    In a different light frequency to the lasers aimed at the laser targets, you also have a laser based mapping system. This system will create a 3D map the specific shape of the visible objects on the surface of the pile.
    Ta Da
    You now have a large robotic sorting machine that can work day and night to pick out items with high accuracy to be recycled.
