I spent 5 or 6 weeks in the old China around 1975 on a "Health Workers Tour" still in the old Mao days.
Fascinating insights from then, but not for this thread except for two lasting impressions.
First: They were Chinese 'Commos' then.
BUT they were, and still are Chinese first, and 'Commos' second. Look where they are now!
Second:
Their sense of time and History is measured more in millennia rather than centuries or decades.
