Totally agree - I’m not downramping, I hope it’s a good op but giving this a wide berth if they don’t already have significant sales...
I can’t actually see any reason for people to host or colocate in a makeshift data centre in remote locations.
Total ping speeds to and from a DC in the US are around circa 200 milliseconds give or take. From Sydney or Melbourne it is virtually instant.
Sure some small miners or businesses in community towns might like to “go up into the cloud” and also be able to manage their environment from round the corner - but I seriously can’t see them signing a Rio Tinto for that kind or arrangement - like seriously??
Perhaps I am missing something, but it seems quite out there.
