Neo, there is a big difference because Fidelity is one of the biggest US financial and securities firms, and their purchase will clear the way for many smaller US institutions to put the stock into their portfolios and the portfolios of their clients. Up to now, US institutions have stayed away...CLQ was too small for them, and they do not invest in spec miners.
But this changes that. Fidelity on board with a 6% position makes CLQ a blue chip, or close to it.
Fidelity might actually cover the stock with analysis in the US. Right now, there isn't any to speak of.
There are Fidelity Investments offices in every city in the United States. Now I do not claim to know which Fidelity funds and instruments will have CLQ in their mix. But this buy means that long-term funds in Fidelity Investments are going to have CLQ in them.
Best of all, these funds are not in-and-out day traders. Their stock is not going anywhere.
It was not a coincidence that Fidelity signed up. Friedland's preparation and strategy shows itself again.
Fidelity was in the bag when they did the CR...heck, they probably negotiated the price with CLQ.
