Former Fortescue Metals Group chief executive Nev Power hasn’t wasted any time picking up new work, today being appointed as the next chairman of Perth Airport.
Mr Power, who boasts both fixed wing and helicopter commercial pilot licences, will replace Curtin University chancellor Colin Beckett at the helm of the airport on May 1.
“This is an incredible time to be involved in aviation in WA,” Mr Power said in a statement.
“Perth Airport’s plans for its next wave of development will position it to embrace the future and deliver major economic gains for the tourism industry, the resources sector, agricultural exporters and higher education,” he said.
Mr Beckett has been chairman of Perth Airport since March 2015.
The airport, Australia’s fourth biggest, is owned by a consortium of superannuation and infrastructure funds, including Utilities of Australia, the Future Fund and Sunsuper
Last financial year, it made a net profit of $119.2 million on revenue of $530 million.
