Working alongside a dynamic and talented Research and Development team, comprising of Senior Software, Electrical, Metallurgical, Embedded Software and Mechanical Design professionals, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for product development and design for production pipeline deliverables. The scope covers Auroras technology suit including the large format technology expected to print up to one tonne of parts over a 24-hour period, Auroras powder production technology, delivering speciality powders, for customer to use with the 3D printers and its rights managements and certification process – providing real time certification while parts are being printed. In parallel aurora is working with industry partners to create solution centre, whereby designs are printed for third parties using Auroras printers. This is an exceptional opportunity for the right person to mastermind and lead cross functional teams, with internal and external resources to enhance each unique deliverable to its full capability and beyond.
Key responsibilities:
To be a successful fit for this full-time / permanent role, you will have:
- Highly ambitious with goal-oriented focus while understanding technically what is needed at each stage of the product lifecycle.
- Hands on management and at times a technical resource.
- To plan, perform and monitor all activities related to research and development, design and testing of our products, incorporating technology reviews, value engineering and cost reduction measures.
- Define, develop, implement, monitor and update all technical specifications
- Align technical specifications with functional and User Requirements Specifications
- Develop the projects lifecycle workflow including Design for Manufacture and Assembly
- Identify risks and escalate issue promptly
- Manage all product technical compliance requirements
- Mentor and develop employees
- Project management of key deliverables
- Management reporting requirements
We offer
- A minimum of a Bachelor Degree from a reputable institution in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industrial engineering field
- Demonstrated experience with concept to R&D to Product Development and production lifecycles
- At least 15 years post graduate hands on experience and career progression in multiple technology industrial fields.
- Ideally have Experience with 3D Metal Printing
- Member of an accredited Project Management body such as Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) or US equivalent Project Management Institute (PMI) or in Europe; Association for Project Management
- Desirable experience with metal additive manufacturing
- Understand and experience with metal powders relating to 3D Metal Printing
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working across a range of technical areas including; high voltage, Laser technology, metallurgy, electronic and software programming.
- Be well respected by your peers in similar technical industry
- Have built a reputation of delivering results in technical areas
- Ability to come up to speed quickly within engineering and scientific environment and highly experienced in the management of and growth of technical teams
