SFP needs to be a learning experience for A3D.Just 11 months ago David was talking about selling 30 SFP's a month (See video from - Master Investor Show 2017) Another question might be what happened to his idea for a rocket engine!
The SFP lesson could be having the most affordable /best value/highest performing product is not enough to deliver significant sales/market share. These are all quantifiable/hard characteristics (ie dull) . I'm curious to get inside the heads of potential 3D printer customers & buying decision makers (CFO's etc) to understand psychology/emotions. E.g impact of aesthetics (does a fast printer need to look fast), stress of making a wrong decision (much safer to follow the herd & go with established player) , relationship of price to quality (is US49999 it too cheap?).
On the same video linked above David talked about selling LFP for $5m (aka 100X SFP) with powder consumption up to $3m per year. If this is achieved SFP will become the Soon to be Forgotten Printer. Maybe we could do an Elon Musk & use one of David's rocket engines to launch the left over SFP's into space!
