As soon as you go underground gold mining is a gamble as it is just not possible to get the required resolution via any sort of drilling to know for sure what you will find. Sometime everything works out well and you end up with a mine that is much better than expected and other time it is much worse.
It doesn't really matter too much in the end as long as the risk is reflected in the SP and you don't put too much into anyone company.
This whole thread seems to more a philosophical discussion on mining than a discussion about the true value of DRM.
