Well, I disagree, they totally mean something, and there's a reason why listed companies are required to provide these updates. Not only that, but if you look at their previous cash flow forecasts they have been quite reliable, so if trend is anything to go by (and this would be a reasonable thing), the forecast is more likely to be the outcome than not.
Let's not diminish the only tangible and reliable piece of information that AP puts out.
Regarding "who's going to complain about it?" - the intention of these reports isn't to inspire complaints, but rather to inform us of what's happened and may happen based on their current understanding of the way things are progressing. Most companies get held to account predominantly on meeting their forecasts, i.e. target revenues, ebit, and so forth - so these reports are absolutely crucial, AP is no exception.
