Zip need to hurry up and get their app up and running, they're losing ground every day that goes by, as hundreds of thousands of people become comfortable with the Afterpay app they aren't going to swap over or run both platforms. The variety and range of stores on both is vast so can always find what you're looking for on either. Zip feels like going to the bank and applying for a loan, Apt is incredibly user friendly. Zip charges the user $6 per month as a service fee. Apt charges the user $0 provided you pay on time.. people like this. Apt receive all their money back within 56 days or you're barred and potential late fees of $10 and $7 per fortnight. Zip take $6 per month that you have a balance remaining, unfortunately people tend to just say, meh, take the $6 and I'll pay you back when I can. Surely bad debts will come down to management. Zip will have less "dodgy" customers but Apt will have so many more and much more income that outweigh their debts as they figure out sustainable solutions.
