I put these up for interest because we are Breaker and gold is our business - and, 'nothing' other than a wacking great gold discovery and good to reasonable management means more to us than the POG and all that drives that -
indeed, without the presence of the POG appearing at above a production cost ----- we would not even exist.
So - IMO - this stuff is important.
I have lived through the Nixon era, the crashes of 87, the GFC and a few other things -- but, the sense I am getting has never been stronger than that which I get atm - which says that some massive movement in the POG - is not only possible, but now highly likely and, pretty close to imminent. I have zero idea of which way things are going to go - and, of course - for us here in Australian miners/explorers - we have the complication of the Aussie compared to the US$ - just to make life less boring for us.
I thought that it is getting more and more interesting with the articles that are being published now -- writers are 'sniffing' the wind -- something is coming - something big - but, as far as I can see - none know exactly what.
the below articles give some sort of idea of some of the thoughts.
IMO - yes, there are some out there who are saying 'oh, when this happens - then, gold does this' - and, others who argue against that etc. etc.
However, any commentators game enough to put out predictions miss one point badly --- they are predicting the future on the past -- and, IMO - there is no past history that even comes close to the conditions we have now
American debt, reliance on China, the sheer scale of the economies we are talking about these days, the scale of non new discoveries in gold, the industry changes -- pretty much anything you can think of where gold has moved massively - well, the economic and industry conditions are just so radically different to the present that I doubt if any parallels could be even haphazardly drawn, let alone realistically drawn.
Overarching all of that is that gold usually firms in 'uncertain' conditions --- well, I put that one on the price up side of the column anyway - because, I doubt if there is one person on the planet that knows where we are all heading economically atm - because we just don't have history as a guide here - we are in uncharted waters and those waters are muddy - not clear to see through.
