    Sydney Airport (ASX:SYD) is welcoming a new director today.

    Abi Cleland will join the Board of Sydney Airport as a non-executive director.

    She has extensive global experience in strategy, mergers and acquisitions and business growth, having previously worked for ANZ, Amcor and Caltex and BHP.

    Meanwhile, yesterday it was reported a new hotel is to be built close to the airport.

    A private hotel developer and operator has paid $12.2 million for a hotel-approved site, with plans to build an eight-level property with 169 rooms.

    Shares in Sydney Airport (ASX:SYD) closed down 0.91 per cent to $6.51
