OK, to elaborate further. The grab and trench samples are from weathered pegmatites. Lithium % in weathered pegmatites is always lower.
However its presence in the alluvial cover and as spodumene in the samples is indicative that the pegmatites beneath may host Lithium.
The head geo, James Sullivan, is the guy that did the due diligence on Manono and confirm the weathered pegmatite samples there were a strong indicator of Lithium mineralisation.
No one knew just how huge the Manono pegmatites would turn out to be and there is almost no historical info on other pegmatite swarms in the area that seem to match the geology. A lot of the resources have only been surface mined by artesenal miners for Cassiterite (Tin) and have never been exposed to modern drilling techniques or indeed even been prospected for pegmatites.
I think your fears of this being a 5m shell with no tenements and/or progress are not realistic at this point based on a geological project perspective.

I should add to this that whilst AVZ has a MC in the hundreds of millions and is battling doubt over its value (even though it is the biggest proven hardrock Li resource in the world now), 4CE is stupidly cheap in comparison with massive potential to not only grow from here but benefit from the major infrastructure spend China is investing in the DRC for AVZ.
