Mining resuming is only digging the ore out of the ground. Doesn't mean they can resume gold production.
Processing is still suspended.
Ore needs to be processed to get your gold. To process gold they need a dam to store byproducts from processing. Usually these byproducts are toxic, such as cyanide that is required to leach out the gold.
Already knowing the processing byproducts are toxic, environmental approvals will be required for any type of tailings dam that is proposed to be made such as the old Cadia Hill open pit.
IMO, we're months away from production.
- It will take time to assess / study / analyse tailings options.
- It will take time to design the new tailings option.
- It will take time to purchase / hire equipment to do the job. Equipment needs time to be sent to site.
- It will take time to mobilise a team to do the job.
- It will take time for preparation of the new site.
- It will take time for the environmental, mining and other regulators to inspect amd assess the new dam.
- It will take time to perform testing and ramping up of production.
