    The only legitimate reason I know of for a consolidation is that some funds apparently have rules around investing that can preclude them buying stocks below a certain share price. So for example I have heard that some funds are not allowed to invest in penny stocks. By consolidating, that can allow some of these funds to then invest in a company.
    This was from a conversation around NEU's recent consolidation (both from the company communications as well as HC conversations) and as you can see Ajostu and I have a slightly different perspective as to why it was done (he said psychology of potential investors from memory, I say rules some investment funds follow).
