Abbott was deeply unpopular but still won because Labor had messed up on several fronts. Abbott had the world at his feet based on the numbers but he soon showed his true self as an untrustworthy liar based on post election policy reversals and that was the end of him. Yes he was made the scapegoat for bad policy compounded by some stupid things he did himself. Turnbull was expected to change policy direction and thats why I voted for his govt, but regrettably not much has changed on the policy front and the govt’s fortunes tanked.

How did Abbott get into your response Eagle?
Four of your six lines are about Abbott.
The thread has absolutely nothing to do with him.
It's to do with Albanese replacing Shorten if the polls continue the trend and put the Libs in front.
